Pikle copy cat cover

 So have you seen those cool In A Pikle bag things lately? They are super cool! But the cases are just not in my price range :S

I wanted to give a couple as gifts for Christmas so here's what I did.
I bought the pouch inserts and made my own cases! They now have a larger one I'd like to make as well for myself. I've seen where people have made similar things and used zip lock bags and just sewed them in the center. I did that with my test one only I still used the snaps to snap the bags in. I sewed several bags together then cut a hole where the snaps are. It works fine but just didn't look as nice. And the bags aren't as durable. I also thought of using clear zipper pouches and just punching holes in them which would work too. I could even sew I line only both sides of the holes so things don't slip out. I just haven't gathered enough pouches and its much cheaper to just buy the pikle inserts!

So here are my final, finished ones I did to fit the inserts. I didn't want much bulk and I put a little pocket on the outside,elastic on inside, found some stain remover pens at the dollar tree, put some band aids and such in there and wahla! Of course my idea wouldn't have been reality without my mothers sewing abilities so thanks mom for makingy vision a reality!

The inserts cost about $5 for 4 inserts so I got 2 sets and put 2 inserts in each which gives them at least 4 zipper pouches and I had leftovers to make one for myself :D

Anyway, I didn't sell these (and won't) but you could maybe do the same and have something custom to fit your needs! Enjoy!

Tulle Hair Bow

My daughter wanted a hair bow just like the one on her dress. It just so happened I had the perfect purple Tulle I picked up on clearance a few years ago. And the button in the middle grandma just happened to have one from a sweater just like the one on her dress! You could just use a glue on rhinestone, but I wanted to get as close as I could.
I just rolled the Tulle in a long strip, the folded the raw ends in. You could glue it, but I just wrapped it with purple string in the center, then later I hand sewed the clip on which secured it more. Then hand sewed the button on. I don't much like to use glue with Tulle because I always burn myself or something.
Anyway, I think it turned out super cute!

Materials needed:

*Tulle--apx 12" x 20"

*Buttons, ribbon or other embellishments for center

*Hair Clip of choice

*Thread

*Needle

(Or hot glue if you choose to glue instead of sew)
*Scissors

Roll Tulle keeping raw edge in center at end

Then fold raw edges into center like below 

Sew or glue center together while pinched.

Sew or glue on clip to back and sew or glue on embellishment in center!

Car Seat Cover Redo

She totally redid my car seat cover for me! She did a fabulous job! She makes everything look so easy;) I helped take some of it apart but the rest was all her! This is what she said: 

"My big accomplishment for the month of August has been to take apart a car seat cover and put in some new fabric.  The backing is new also.  It needed washed and when we did so, the backing was starting to fall apart.  I put a light green flannel on the back, so when we have to wash it again it will stay together (I hope).  This is not a difficult project.  Start to finish, it takes a couple of hours, but not hard.  The only part that is all new on the top of this is the polka-dot fabric."

Travel Jewelry Holder Tutorial

For Personal Use Only! Not for Reproduction!

Materials Needed:

• 1 outside fabric piece—23"x9"

• 1 inside fabric piece—23"x9"

• Batting piece—23"x9"

• Fabric Necklace Pocket-- 12”x12” (12”x6” when folded in half) 

• Binding— At least 68” long whether bought or made.Double Fold kind if bought and about 2” wide if made. 

• Bios Tape for clear pockets and middle-- 3 pieces 11” long and 1 piece 9” long 

• 2 Clear Pockets—11”x2¾”---The “plastic” is 
  clear vinyl tablecloth material. You can pick it up at Joann's,Michaels, Walmart and other craft stores. Mines a little thicker gauge but you can use what you want. You can also just do fabric pockets if you want but I like to see my earrings.

• 8 ribbons for the loops---5” long--Grosgrain works best but you can use any kind. The 1 inch wide works good. As long as your velcro is the same width you should be fine. 

• Velcro—apx 2” total—each piece about ½” long and as wide as your ribbon 

• Outside Ribbon—26” long

Smurf Blanket

So my daughter got attached to the same blanket I slept with for nearly 12 years! So it is pretty warn to say the least! So I decided to make a new one (which by the way she won't use because she's way too smart to be fooled)! It turned out that the fabric that was used was actually a piece of a now vintage bed sheet! So I hunted it down and here are my before and after pictures:)

Note that my Mother also helped me with this one...lets just say A LOT! It would have taken me 3 days what she did in a couple hours!

Blanket?

So I Attempted to make a small blanket for the car seat for Sophia but the Minky fabric I was using was well....impossible. SO, after seeing the whole thing be one big pucker I decided it would be best as a pillow instead. So we have a really cool pillow now!:) I used the stuffing from some old messed up, flat pillows and well...my pictures are with my phone so they are horrible but ya...Check it:

 The girls love it! In fact Sophie was just napping on it and Alli kept wanting to lay by her:)
